Aimee Smith Update

Green Party candidate and anti-Zionist Aimee Smith, got 9,445 votes in her Congressional campaign, according to the Michigan Secretary's of State unofficial results. This gave her a respectable, though distant, second place finish against her opponent, the well-financed, 50-year incumbent Democrat John Dingell. Dingell outspent Smith by about 612 to1; 74% of Dingell's $1,394,597 in receipts came from PACs with $655,075 from business PACs, according to his 10/18/2006 FEC report. In her first run for the seat Smith beat the three-time Libertarian candidate, Gregory Stempfle. The candidate and everyone who worked on her campaign can be proud of these achievements.
